Each year Nantucket Bank asks members of the community to nominate local individuals and organizations that have had major impacts on their communities. The top 12 heroes are selected by a committee and featured in the following year’s Community Hero Calendar.
MEET RACHEL HOBART
August 2018 Community Hero
Rachel Hobart started coming to Nantucket when she was just seven years old and made Nantucket her home in 1987. She took a break from her law practice to raise her three children and pursue a myriad of passions and opportunities before becoming the project manager in 2008 for ReMain, an organization that seeks to strengthen the economic, social and environmental vitality of downtown Nantucket year-round. At ReMain, Rachel was successful in increasing the educational offerings at their 56 Centre Street facility. Rachel has volunteered her time with a number of organizations that champion the issues that matter to her most; education and the arts.
Organizations that have benefitted from her time and passion are Small Friends on Nantucket, Children’s House, Nantucket Public Schools, Nantucket New School and, most recently, the Dreamland Performing Arts Center.
Rachel Hobart is sending her $1,000 donation from the Blue Hills Bank Foundation to the Dreamland Performing Arts Center.
Thank you, Rachel, for the work you’ve done alongside ReMain to strengthen the economic, social and environmental vitality of downtown Nantucket.
