Protect and monitor your accounts
Nantucket Bank has invested in sophisticated systems that monitor both your debit card activity and online banking account for fraud. If we notice unusual activity on your account, we may suspend the account and/or your online access, and contact you to determine whether someone has obtained unauthorized access.
Although our fraud detection systems are continuously monitoring and evaluating your accounts, there are many ways you can help protect yourself:
Check on your accounts often
One of the best ways you can protect yourself from fraud is to monitor your daily account activity through online or telephone banking, so you can spot potential problems. Sometimes fraudsters will start with one or two very small transactions to test access to an account before moving on to larger-dollar amounts. If you notice transactions that you didn’t authorize, contact us immediately at 508.228.0580.
Change your online banking passwords frequently
It’s a good idea to change your online banking passwords periodically. You can do this by logging into online banking, selecting “Profile” from the top navigation bar, and selecting “Edit” within the Password section.
Establish alerts within online banking
You can use the alerts feature in our online banking service to let you know if your balance falls below a certain limit, which could be an indicator that someone has either used your debit card for unauthorized purchases or accessed your online banking account. To establish an alert, login to online banking and select “Alerts” from the top navigation bar. Next, click “Nantucket Bank eAlerts” and select “Setup a New Alert.” Then select the type of alert you would like to establish. You can have the alert sent to you online via email, or by text to your mobile device.
If your identity has been stolen, you need to take immediate action to limit the damage and protect your good name.

- Contact Nantucket Bank at 800-533-9313 and other related vendors immediately. Close any accounts that may have been tampered with or opened fraudulently.
- Place a fraud alert on your credit report with one of the three major credit bureaus. Also request to review your credit report for suspicious activity. A copy of your credit report is available free each year from www.annualcreditreport.com.

- File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov.
- File a report with local police.
